Carry Me Back to Old Virginny (Bland)

Transcript

That's where the birds on the trees do a sweet dance. That's where the oars on the coast have long to go. That's where the divers go on to gather.

That's the place in the fields where the meadows grow. That's the place on earth where I love to walk. That's the place where I hold my steady.

That's the place where I want to walk. That is the place where all the birds sing. That is the place where the birds go and sing a song.

About the artist

Edison Male Quartet

A studio ensemble rather than a touring band. Record companies kept groups of session players on call and issued them under a rotating set of house names — the personnel overlapped heavily from one to the next, and the name on the label indicated the kind of music inside more than who was performing it. Individual players were rarely credited, and for most of these ensembles the membership is now unrecoverable.
