♪ Every girl you must confess has an attraction, more or less. The beauty is often a snare. Many a girlie gains renown for a complexion up in town that comes off with her back hair.

But if you want to find a spot where all the darling girls boss what are seen at their best, well-dressed, crossing round about, come along where the breezes blow. Off to the briny let us go, and you'll find without a doubt all the girls are lovely by the seaside. All the girls are lovely by the seaside.

When they're rolling down beside the ocean, the ocean, what a commotion. All the girls are lovely by the seaside with their curls and fish of drapery. See those darlings trip along, everyone is going strong.

What they're mixing with the throng, some are lean and rather long, some are fat and non-bong-bong. Pick where you like, you can't go wrong. They're all lovely by the sea.

♪ Giddy Gustave and Blanche Marie, tired of life in gay Paris, too often decide to go. Meant to enjoy the night for sure, also the lovely bathing there, the bathing was mixed and so. He took Marie into the sea among the girls he fought with glee, and all was a time real prime till the Frenchman there suddenly cried, you saucy pot, that's the wrong girl you're holding up.

Gustave shouted, I don't care. All the girls are lovely by the seaside. All the girls are lovely by the seaside.

When they're going down beside the ocean, the ocean, the warmest of oceans, all the girls are lovely by the seaside with their curls and fish of drapery. Slightly flowing bikini girls, each one quite a thirsty flirt, with their figures nice and perked, tucked inside a hobbled skirt, wearing a blouse you know for cert was made from father's flannel vest. They're all lovely by the seaside.

Little Miss Maude from Brighton Pier, out on a yacht with Maude de Vier, went sailing, a killing an hour. Terrible sobs began to break, little Miss Maude began to quake, as down came an awful shower. Her hair stood lost in curly waves, her nuts began to disbehave, as over the rails, white sails, she hung like a wreck.

Then as her face turned by degrees, the colour of gorgonzola cheese, someone shouted from the deck, all the girls are lovely by the seaside. All the girls are lovely by the seaside. When they're scrolling down beside the ocean, the ocean, oh what a commotion, all the girls are lovely by the seaside, with their curls and bits of drapery.

What their age is, you don't care, everyone is handsome there, maidens young and maidens fair, maidens all with baby's hair, no front teeth and no back hair, trying to smile like Phyllis Dare, they're all lovely by the sea.

About the artist

Jack Chairman recorded from c. 1911

A British music-hall performer, and among collectors chiefly remembered as a “cover” artist: a singer with a voice strong enough to cut a clean groove, engaged to record other people's hits. That was an ordinary job in the acoustic era, when a popular song was recorded by whoever a label had under contract rather than by whoever had made it famous.
