About the artist

Charles Daab recorded 1910–1916

Edison's xylophone and bells specialist. He signed with the company on 2 July 1910 and moved quickly to making cylinders on both instruments; his “William Tell — Fantasie” is in this collection. Percussion of this kind recorded unusually well through an acoustic horn, and Edison kept a xylophonist on the roster throughout — a new group of players took over from Daab in 1916.
